Happy Tuesday from KFG!
A lot of people are going to be going around today wishing you a Happy Valentines Day. There are even more people who are going to possibly throw things at you if you utter the name. We here at KFG, though not single ourselves, still wish all of our people who hate this holiday for one reason or another Happy Tuesday, for that is all it is.
Or is it? February the 14th was originally a day of fornication, blood, and wolves. You read right. For the month of “forfebrua” meaning purification and offerings, it makes me wonder what exactly it is they’re offering!
In truth, February the 14th was celebrated by the Romans to honor Juno Fructifier, Queen of the Roman gods and goddesses. The next day, on the 15th, they would celebrate Lupercus, the Roman God who watched over shepards and flocks. Ironic that they would trust a wolf to do this. Lupercal, the wolf god, had a grotto dedicated to him at the foot of Palatine Hill. It was here that the Romans believed that the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, were suckled by a she-wolf, and there’s nothing romantic about that.
So Happy Tuesday all you lovers and fighters out there. Forget the holiday, and instead celebrate today by making it as happy as possible by shedding the blood of your enemies on the battlefield!
Settlers of Catan Star Trek Announced
If you’ve never played Settlers of Catan, you’re surely missing out on one of the best board games to grace your dining room table. The award winning game by Klaus Teuber has been a staple of board-gaming wonder for years, involving strategy, resource management, and more sheep jokes than you can shake a stick at.
The greatest thing about Settlers of Catan, other than nefarious shady deals with your opponents and using roads to cut off their acquisition of territory, was that it’s such a simple game. As other such simple games go, such as Monopoly or Munchkin, it would have been very easy to port Catan in to almost any genre, yet Klaus has neglected to do so… until now.
Star Trek Catan has been announced. While it is very similar in play to the original Catan, it incorporates a new system of Star Trek Personalities for the individual player including Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Scott, Uhura, Chekov, Chapel, Rand, and Sarek. Each will have special powers to aid the player, such as forcing someone to make a trade with you. Resources will have changed from the original Wood, Stone, Wheat, Clay, and the everloved Sheep to now be Dilithium, Tritanium, Food, Oxygen, and Water. Roads are replaced with star ships, villages and cities with large and small space stations, and the Rogue with a Klingon Bird of Prey.
The only question remains: Why characters from the original Star Trek? Is it because the makers of Catan wish to honor the original show, or because they know the crew of Next Generation are too skilled and intelligent to succumb to squabbling over petty territory? Yes, I went there.
All Forum Issues Resolved!
Thanks for your patience.
Just a quick note, the old in-frame Mingle Forum has been scrapped for the much more efficient (and prettier) PHPBB3 forum that you’ll see when you now click the “Forum” tab.
Unfortunately, you WILL have to re-register a name on there as the database is not able to be shared between WordPress and PHPBB3, but it’s a small price to pay for the ability to share your thoughts with the community.
Also, please welcome Ash Bunny, our new forum moderator / administrator! She’s very eager to get to know everyone, and is taking charge of most of the day-to-day forum stuffs.
Hope to see you on there soon!
