Faeit 212 Blog Exchange, Clayton’s Knights of the Dinner Table Article

You’ve probably heard us say a couple things about Natfka at Faeit 212 in the past, and now is another day. Recently Natfka added us to his Blog Exchange, so that while checking out his site for the latest on Warhammer 40k News and Rumors, you can find Knightfall Games blog posts and other News and Rumor sites by using his Blog Exchange search engine.

Natfka is great about always updating his blog with the latest in Warhammer 40k News and Rumors. We share a lot of his blog posts on our Facebook page. Make sure to check out his site a lot for your latest news!

In other news, our very own Clayton J. Callahan, creator of Star Run 2, has written an article for Knights of the Dinner Table Magazine #183 called “The Game Master’s Ten Commandments”. I’ve read it myself, and it not only has a lot of great advice, but actually inspired me towards the next game I run (and possibly some Pathfinder events I’ve been thinking about!) While I can’t link to or post to the article here, you can either go to the Knights of the Dinner Table website and order the magazine yourself, or come in to the store and read through our copy of the article!

Point System Change, new Magic the Gathering Tournaments!

We just changed the Point Earning system for every game participation bonus. You now earn 2 points for participating in the daily events! It used to be 5, but we realized that sadly we cannot be that constantly generous :(
Check the Event page on the web site to see what upcoming events you want to participate in!

Also keep checking the website daily for new Magic the Gathering Tournaments and events, with our new Game Knights Kiki and Brandon! More than just Friday Night Magic, now we’re going to have… well… more!

Happy Tuesday from KFG!

A lot of people are going to be going around today wishing you a Happy Valentines Day. There are even more people who are going to possibly throw things at you if you utter the name. We here at KFG, though not single ourselves, still wish all of our people who hate this holiday for one reason or another Happy Tuesday, for that is all it is.

Or is it? February the 14th was originally a day of fornication, blood, and wolves. You read right. For the month of “forfebrua” meaning purification and offerings, it makes me wonder what exactly it is they’re offering!

In truth, February the 14th was celebrated by the Romans to honor Juno Fructifier, Queen of the Roman gods and goddesses. The next day, on the 15th, they would celebrate Lupercus, the Roman God who watched over shepards and flocks.  Ironic that they would trust a wolf to do this. Lupercal, the wolf god, had a grotto dedicated to him at the foot of Palatine Hill. It was here that the Romans believed that the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, were suckled by a she-wolf, and there’s nothing romantic about that.

So Happy Tuesday all you lovers and fighters out there. Forget the holiday, and instead celebrate today by making it as happy as possible by shedding the blood of your enemies on the battlefield!

Exciting Website Updates!

Another huge update has come upon the website!

Warhammer 40k Products

If you’ll look to the top, you’ll see a brand new “Store” tab. We’ve had a Store tab before, but the new Store is handled 100% through Knightfall Games, and has a new feature where you can choose how you want your product handled.

For a flat $5 fee we can deliver your ordered product through UPS, or you can choose In-Store Pickup and get it for the price that we would sell it for in the store with no added charge, and we will hold it for you until you come to pick it up yourself. This allows you to browse what we have in the store at your leisure, get detailed views of the product through high-res images or a Youtube link, buy whatever you want, and have it held for you so that you can make sure you don’t miss that one piece you really want, and we’ll hold it for you for up to 30 days until you feel like coming in and picking it up.

Right now we only have Warhammer 40k, Malifaux, Privateer Press, and Gaming Accessories store link up, but soon we’ll have Magic the Gathering Rares, D&D Miniatures, and much much more! Keep an eye on the Store page, and the Store Categories sidebar plugin on your right!

Privateer Press Products

Speaking of the sidebar: We at KFG want YOUR opinion! We will be asking questions once a month on the right side of the page in a poll. If you’d like to say more than just your number in a poll, go ahead and click in the Forum tab up above, and find the appropriate thread for this month’s poll in the News section.

Other things you can look forward to in the Forum are new discussions on upcoming events, people showing off their artwork, or a brand new Forum Game created by Iris and I entitled “The Devil In Disguise”. Go check it out!

As for new events, we’re going to be making a ton of changes to the Events page sooner than you think. As you can see it’s been broken for a while, and this gives us a great opportunity to make some changes. These will include brand new “mini” tournaments, daily specials on in-store products, and a Google Calendar instead of the old calendar system we’ve been using. This will allow you to sign up for events under your Gmail account, keep your event schedules organized, sign up for events in advance, and even create your own events! Look for these changes soon!

Another big change to the Events page will be more information! More information on upcoming tournament rules, and the results of previous tournaments for your viewing pleasure / bragging rights!

As always, keep an eye on the Forum Website Changelog for changes that I’m making to the site every day!

Knightfall Games Commercial by William Smith

Our very own William Smith made us a commercial for “funzies”. We’re really impressed. Check it out and comment!

Settlers of Catan Star Trek Announced

If you’ve never played Settlers of Catan, you’re surely missing out on one of the best board games to grace your dining room table. The award winning game by Klaus Teuber has been a staple of board-gaming wonder for years, involving strategy, resource management, and more sheep jokes than you can shake a stick at.

The greatest thing about Settlers of Catan, other than nefarious shady deals with your opponents and using roads to cut off their acquisition of territory, was that it’s such a simple game. As other such simple games go, such as Monopoly or Munchkin, it would have been very easy to port Catan in to almost any genre, yet Klaus has neglected to do so… until now.

Star Trek Catan has been announced. While it is very similar in play to the original Catan, it incorporates a new system of Star Trek Personalities for the individual player including Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Scott, Uhura, Chekov, Chapel, Rand, and Sarek. Each will have special powers to aid the player, such as forcing someone to make a trade with you. Resources will have changed from the original Wood, Stone, Wheat, Clay, and the everloved Sheep to now be Dilithium, Tritanium, Food, Oxygen, and Water. Roads are replaced with star ships, villages and cities with large and small space stations, and the Rogue with a Klingon Bird of Prey.

The only question remains: Why characters from the original Star Trek? Is it because the makers of Catan wish to honor the original show, or because they know the crew of Next Generation are too skilled and intelligent to succumb to squabbling over petty territory? Yes, I went there.

Gygax Memorial Fund, WoTC releasing limited edition reprints, Statue of Gygax to be erected

Gygax Memorial Fund

Gygax Memorial Fund

Wizards of the Coast announced today that they are releasing limited edition reprints of the 1st edition Dungeon Master’s Guide, Monster Manual, and Player’s Handbook, all lovingly reprinted with the original art and content but also to feature a new cover design in commemoration. They are available in VERY limited quantities exclusively in North America.

All proceeds from these purchases go strait to the Gygax Memorial Fund, established to immortalize our Father of Roleplaying Games with a memorial statue in Lake Geneva, WI.

Gary loved the fact that he created D&D and was the father of RPGs and what he gave to the world: men and women coming together and developing friendships and learning. At Gen Con 40 (in 2007) he was overwhelmed with fans relating to him his importance on his work through which they developed lifelong relationships: lifelong friends, marital partners and extended families—all through gaming. What a gift! By that he was truly joyful and comforted.

All Forum Issues Resolved!

Thanks for your patience.

Just a quick note, the old in-frame Mingle Forum has been scrapped for the much more efficient (and prettier) PHPBB3 forum that you’ll see when you now click the “Forum” tab.

Unfortunately, you WILL have to re-register a name on there as the database is not able to be shared between WordPress and PHPBB3, but it’s a small price to pay for the ability to share your thoughts with the community.

Also, please welcome Ash Bunny, our new forum moderator / administrator! She’s very eager to get to know everyone, and is taking charge of most of the day-to-day forum stuffs.

Hope to see you on there soon!
